Homeopathy & CEASE Therapy
HOMEOPATHY is a system of natural health that stimulates the person's body to bring it back into balance. Disease is considered an internal imbalance in the state of the person where the person is not functioning at one hundred percent. This can be on the physical, emotional or mental levels...essentially a weakness. This susceptibility is an opportunity for external influences to take hold and further weaken the individual. The body can produce symptoms as a result of the imbalance or as a result of external influences. Symptoms are seen as a positive adaptive response of the body to try and come back into balance. At times the body is able to do so by itself, while at other times it needs a boost. Homeopathy works on this level...stimulating the body to come back into balance so it can be strong enough and have the resources it needs to restore health and vitality.
Remedies are used to stimulate the body. They can be made from a variety of substances...plant, mineral and animal. Remedies are not used to treat an illness or a disease. They are used to stimulate the body and strengthen it, so the body can bring itself back into a state of strong vitality and health. Homeopathy can help on the physical, emotional and mental levels. The whole person is taken account.
CEASE Therapy was developed by Tinus Smits a, a doctor from the Netherlands. The approach it uses is to look at all traumatic, toxic and invasive factors that may have affected their health and detoxify them with a program of homeopathy, orthomolecular support, diet and nutrition. This approach has been used with individuals with Autism, ADD/ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, learning disabilities, behavioral problems and dyslexia. It has also been expanded to be used with a variety of other issues. I am a certified CEASE Therapist and can work with individuals with a variety of developmental issues.
Herbals, Gemmotherapy & Natural Remedies
HERBAL REMEDIES The use of plants by humans for improving health predates written human history. Herbalism is based on the use of plants or plant extracts which are taken internally or applied topically to deal with illness and improve health. Herbalism is not a licensed profession in the U. S. but many health practitioners may recommend herbal suplements. Typical herbal supplements may come in different forms such as tinctures, capsules, tablets and extracts. Many modern-day pharmaceuticals have been derived from the study of compounds inherent in plants. For example the bark of the willow tree contains salicylic acid which has been used for hundreds of years to treat pain and fevers. This is the active ingredient in aspirin.
Herbal remedies have been used by many people in many cultures worldwide for health reasons. They have been used to deal with most any health condition. Care must be taken when using herbal remedies as they can have potential side-effects. It is always best to consult with an experienced practitioner in regards to benefits and effects.
Gemmotherapy is a method of using specific parts of plants as remedies for health. Gemmotherapy remedies differ from herbal remedies in that they are taken from different plant tissues. Typically they are taken from the embryonic tissue(buds and new shoots) of various trees and shrubs. Some of the remedies are taken from the reproductive part of the plant(seeds and catkins) and from new growth tissue such as rootlets. Using these specific parts of the plant captures different nutrients and compounds than is found in the normal adult plant tissue.
Gemmotherapy remedies are typically used for organ drainage and the detoxification of tissues. They are used prior to and in conjunction with other natural remedies although they may also be used alone.
